Monopoly
is the best-selling commercial board game in the world. According to Hasbro, since Charles Darrow patented the game in
1935, approximately 750 million people have played the game, making it "the most
played board game in the world."
*
The 1999
Guinness Book of Records cited Hasbro's previous statistic of 500 million people having played Monopoly. Games Magazine has
inducted Monopoly into its Hall of Fame.
*
Of the 500 million people who have played the game, I wonder how many have translated the valuable lessons Monopoly has to teach, into their own personal
lives. In other words, how many are playing Monopoly for
real!
*
These millionaires continued playing Monopoly in their personal lives while
the vast majority settled for easy the route of passing ‘Go.’ In
the game of life, in which we are all players, all play Monopoly. You are either passing GO or you are buying
properties and owning businesses.

(Hi,
my name is Rodney T Watson, author of the book, 'LIFE AFTER FORECLOSURE' currently sold on Amazon.com.)
*
Although Monopoly has many lessons to teach us, two main points demand
our attention. The Number One Lesson: Do
Not Pass Go! Passing Go in real life represents
a job. A job is not bad, however, in Monopoly you could never win the game if you simply passed Go and
did nothing else. Real estate investments and business ownership is crucial to winning the game.
The same holds true in real life. Real estate holdings and business ownership provides you with
something very important – Multiple Streams of Income!
*
FACT: 97% of all millionaires received their money through real estate and business ownership!
*
Lesson Two: Buy Assets. Assets
are real estate properties and business ownership (i.e. Reading Railroad, Water Works) Owning a number of these will
provide you with multiple or different sources of income. So if you ever have to ‘Go to Jail’
(represents getting laid off, downsized, or medical leave) you will still have other sources of income coming in.
Even if one of your properties goes bad, the others will carry you through. Idea: Use that ‘Go’ money to buy assets.

The big cats
of Africa teach their young survival skills at an early age. The mother cat will bring a small live animal
to her young. The young cats pouch, tackle, and bite the animal. While this may seem
cruel to us, the mother is teaching her kids life skills which will help them once they become independent. She understands that their playing now, will translate into real life later.
The mother cat is training them for independence.

Your children must also play the types of games now which will translate into
real life later. The wise King Solomon said, “Train up a
child in the way that he shall go and when he is old he shall not depart from it.” While schools may teach the
basics of money, they do not teach how cash should flow, how to build assets, or business ownership. Schools
are more geared to training your child on getting a good education so they can get a good job. In other
word, most schools are training your child how to ‘Pass Go’.
A system that has kept many Americans’ working long hours for little pay, living paycheck to paycheck, and praying
their jobs doesn’t go away.
*
Your child
can be different. Your child can be the one who breaks the cycle
of the ‘Pass Go’ mentality. Have them play games that will stimulate their thinking,
games that will show them how wealth is created. Have them play a game that will teach
them how to buy various properties and businesses. Your child can play a fun game that will show them how
cash flows and how certain expenses will affect that cash flow.
*
That game is called, “My
Checkbook.”
*
Monopoly Works is excited to offer 'My Checkbook'. Avaliable in the Spring
of 2012. Your child or teen can play a game that will teach them the financial skills needed to be
successful. No hard to understand jargon, no long learning curve, and no long hours on hours of game play.
*
‘My Checkbook’ will teach your child or teen:
How cash should flow.
How to buy different types of houses, condos, and apartments.
How to buy various businesses.
Assets vs Liabilities.
The true cost of living expenses.
Life Happens.
And much more.
*
Imagine your child or teen
looking down and at one glance being able to see all their assets; houses, condos, apartments, business
and also seeing at the same time all their liabilities; cars, boats, jet skis, and time shares. Not on
some boring spreadsheet, but a very real tangible way they’ll see how they are
financially and will learn what to do about it. They’ll have fun all the while becoming financially
literate.
*
The more they
play ‘My Checkbook’ the better they'll understand how money works and how money can work for them.
It’s a fun way for your child to become financially literate. You will have the satisfaction
of knowing that your child is getting the necessary skills to win in the game of life.*
